Springville OBOB 2021-22 Bulletin Board

We counted the votes after you voted for your favorite OBOB books. Thanks to the 92 of you who voted! 33 of you liked Guts, 12 of you chose The Care and Feeding of a Pet Black Hole, and 8 of you enjoyed The Book Wanderers. It might be fun to check out those books to see why so many classmates liked them! Thanks for voting!

Battles are postponed until further notice.

We know everyone is excited to battle, however, the omicron variant has showed up and messed with our plans. Due to the new BSD Protocol Changes, volunteers are not allowed inside the school building. And we simply cannot run battles without volunteers. After discussing our options with our principal Mrs. Kobrowski, we decided to postpone the battles until volunteers are permitted again. We thank you for your patience! And we will communicate with you further as things change.

Until we see you next, stay healthy and keep reading!

Welcome back from Winter Break! Hope you had some fun in the snow!

I found out this week that we won't get the official OBOB questions until mid-January. Sorry, I hope we can start battles on January 18 . . . On the bright side, it means lots more time for you guys to read!!! Some of you have devoured ALL of the books and are looking forward to some competition. That's great! Others . . . well, it's time to help out your teammates and crack open some books. I guarantee you'll have more fun during battles if you can answer more questions.

Remember to check the OBOB board outside the library for updates.

Also, we've decided to allow some audience members for each battle. We will figure out a way to do a sign-up or distribute tickets to the lucky students.

------------------------------

Email confirmations have been sent out. Check out the pronunciation guide for authors' names under Resources. And as usual, you can always use Contact Us and we'll try to get back to you ASAP.

------------------------------

-OBOB will be in-person in January and February during lunch recess time. Two teams will battle in a classroom, with limited audience.

-Maximum duration of an OBOB battle is 15 minutes.

-We are not allowed to have FLEX students join us. For 3rd grade: Team members have to be from the same class. For 4th and 5th grade: Team members have to be from the same grade (members from different classes permitted).

-4 team members is ideal. Minimum of 3 team members (much more challenging, slight disadvantage). Maximum of 5 team members - 1 person sits out during battles (sub).

-You do not have to read all 16 books. You have time to read and re-read your books until it's time to battle. Some battlers read 1 book only and some battlers read all. It's more fun when you read more books so you can answer more questions during battles.
